Four.

A poem by my sister, graycen's aunt danielle.

Crowns and balloons

Mary Poppins on Broadway

Candles in pancakes

and dancing in Subways.

Pizza and dumplings

Gelati on trains

The dress is just perfect,

but what’s in a name?

Graycen, sometimes,

I simply don’t know

the why or the how

as you shine and you glow.

No one at four

has ever amazed

the way that you do

as you dazzle and daze.

strangers and family,

your wonder inspires,

impromptu ballerina,

whose little soul is on fire.

The world, as it meets you

is better off for it.

Happy Birthday, sweet niece,

you more than deserve it.

Come on Barbie, let's go Party!

Thank you to everyone who made graycen's 4th birthday the best yet! We love you all. and a special thanks to my sister who came all the way from florida to be with her niece on her special day... after all graycen did say the best part of her birthday was "aunt dani being here." a very happy birthday it was~

Mani, Pedi Fun.

Graycen most certainly, over the past four years, earned herself her first manicure and pedicure. it was a blast! i hope graycen comes home from college on breaks and we still go get our nails and toes done. i hope that on her wedding day i am snapping pictures like these. and i hope for years after that, that we can break away from life and take a moment and indulge... together:)

From Past to Present.

Graycen, a week from today you are turning four years old.
i wrote you this letter before i even knew your name. i was 7 months pregnant with your little body.

"to my daughter,

the news of your life came as a surprise. it was the moment that changed my life for eternity. i pictured how you'd look, and how you'd sound. i pictured myself hugging you and kissing the top of your head. at this moment i still have not met you. but you will be coming soon. my body has taken on your shape. i touch it often knowing you are under my layers of skin. i am your home. that does not end when you enter the world. i will be your soft spot to fall onto. there is an overabundance of love i hold for you in my heart. come out when you are ready. until then i will be waiting anxiously.

love, me."

....
four years later your life has simply amazed me. i love you beyond any earthly comprehension.

Habitat 5k.

Please help raise money and awareness to many people's tough choice between having to pay rent or something else. On Sunday April 25th i will be walking a 5k in the downtown area to help raise money to build new homes right here in our city! I am also asking that if you plan to get graycen a birthday gift, that you donate money instead, or at least scale back. graycen has many, many things, and some kids don't even have a home. if you are interested in making a donation, please go here www.habitatnewburgh.org.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone. i will be spending time at the movies, at a birthday party, spin class, ballet class for gray, church, and lots of cooking., oh and taking huge bites out of my delicious babies. i will be relishing in one of the last weekends that graycen is three, and dwelling on her awesomeness. Hope you can enjoy all the aspects of your weekend~
( i am not sure there is anything more yummy than this. i tell myself that it's a healthy infatuation.)

High above the chimney tops...

okay. so here's the deal. i really don't like bridges. yup, never have. like, major anxiety kicks in. not a good feeling. at. all. buuuuut, after much thought i decided to face that fear head on, and walk a bridge, the bridge near my house that i see people walking everyday. and they all make it look so very normal. on the way there i was getting very nervous and talking a mile a minute to graycen, who when we got there asked me what the red marks were all over my chest. "hives" i told her. oh my gosh, i had hives. so below is the picture of the start of the bridge. there and back would be 3.6 miles of glorious nervousness, total suspension over the water, complete vulnerability. here's a picture of graycen who was probably thinking to herself, "i really wish i wasn't stranded all the way up here with her." (her, meaning me.)
but here is reason #1, why i wanted to do it.
and here is reason #2 why i wanted to get my littles up there.
see, we were really doing it.
graycen had to point out that it was a looong way down.
very long way down. gulp. look up now.
phew, we made it to the other side where we found a shady spot under a tree and had a snack and some water.
proof that i actually was there.
and here graycen is shouting that "we did it!" meaning, we had gone all the way to the other side....
... and back.
but look how relaxed these two were. and yes, i will totally be doing this again.
it was so very worth every step.

What's up with these two?

do these two just totally make you wanna laugh and smile? well, they certainly do me:) haha, gosh i love them.

we had such a great weekend. we spent time outdoors pretty much the whole time. fun things like long, long walks, and s'mores, and eating lunch outside.
i was able to take graycen saturday morning, and do her 4th birthday pictures. she was a trooper even in the cold and the wind. you can see those pictures here. and yes, i am sort of completely in love with how they turned out. i can't believe that graycen is turning four, two weeks from today. but trust me, that is a whole other post.

i hope everyone had a lovely weekend~

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone. well, we had a very busy, fun week. we played in the sun everyday, and all got a bit of color on our cheeks. it's making us look and feel healthier:) i think tomorrow we might head to Red Hook. there is a barn there that i want to photograph, and plus it's a very beautiful little town i've heard. sunday i am hoping we make it to church, now that the boys are feeling better. my only fear is i leave them in the nursery with some sick kid and bam, we are right back where we started. our church has a lovely coffee shop, so we might sit in there with the babes and listen to the service. i'm not too sure yet. either way, i am just looking forward to a nice weekend with my family. i hope you all make some relaxing plans for yourselves. enjoy the weekend~

...
i leave you with a few pictures from Easter morning.
